The article is devoted to reading the novel by the outstanding French writer, philosopher and public figure Simone de Beauvoir from the perspective of modern gerontology. The thoughts, feelings and sensations of the main characters are analyzed from the point of view of the concepts of age and individual capacity. Today, this story can be considered not only an important socially significant work, but also a popular science work that carries an educational mission in the field of age perception.
