IMPROVEMENT OF HELP FOR ELDERLY AND OLD-AGED PATIENTS WITH DELIRIUM AFTER SURGERYS

Full file PDF (900 Kb)
Summary:
Acute depression of consciousness is given, for obvious reasons, special attention, since these conditions are predictors of increasing somatic distress, various septic complications or multiple organ failure syndrome. At the same time, not enough attention is paid to the slowly progressing impairment of cognitive functions, this happens against the background of solving more global, life-threatening conditions for the patient. Delirium is defined as acute psychosis, cerebrovascular disease, dyscirculatory disease, encephalopathy, etc. Errors in terminology represent a real reflection of the inability to diagnose delirium, and therefore correctly and timely stop it, which leads to a deterioration in the final results
Keywords postoperative delirium, elderly and senile age, Richmond-RASS arousal-sedation scale, CAM-ICU-algorithm for diagnosing delirium in the intensive care unit, mental status
