Currently, the number of patients suffering from colorectal cancer is increasing. An increase in the number of patients of older age groups naturally leads to an increase in the number of gerontological patients suffering from colon cancer. Most elderly patients will have several comorbidities, often in the sub-decompensation stage. In addition to concomitant diseases, patients of older age groups will have a number of geriatric syndromes, the main of which are: senile asthenia syndrome, malnutrition syndrome, sarcopenia and falls syndrome, incontinence syndrome. Specialized gerontological scales allow you to assess the risks of complications and / or death of specialized treatment. The most appropriate scale for patients with colorectal cancer of older age groups is the ACPGBI-CRC, which takes into account the stage of the disease, age, volume and type of surgery (planned or emergency surgery). For the relief of intestinal obstruction syndrome of tumor origin, open or laparoscopic colostomy, as well as colorectal endoprosthesis, is used. Despite the achievements of medicine, colostomy is often accompanied by early and late complications, the number of which increases with age.
