Summary:
COPD is a fairly common disease. According to clinical and epidemiological data, there are about 1 million patients with this diagnosis in outpatient clinics of the Russian Federation, and the estimated number of people with this pathology is about 11 million people. Moreover, in the elderly and senile age, COPD can occur, according to various authors, in 20-40% of the population. With the increase in life expectancy and the development of medical technologies, older people with COPD are much more likely than previous generations to find themselves in stressful situations of a new type. This type of stress can include a variety of surgical interventions. One of the most common operations is cholecystectomy. In Russia alone, at least 100,000 such operations are performed every year. At the same time, the number of bronchopulmonary complications of varying degrees in elderly people with COPD in the perioperative period remains significant and ranges from 3 to 20% depending o on the degree of operational and anesthetic risk. The incidence of complications is influenced by several groups of factors: aging changes of respiratory system, the nature of the COPD, polymorbidity, the nature of anesthesia and the cholecystectomy, because it is known that operations in the upper floor of the abdominal cavity is an independent factor increasing the risk of bronchopulmonary complications. The influence of these factors and the development of measures to reduce the number of bronchopulmonary complications is being actively studied. However, despite this, the influence of the characteristics of geriatric status (senile asthenia, geriatric syndromes) as independent factors, as well as in relation to other risk factors, it remains virtually unexplored. However, it is senile asthenia and geriatric syndromes that are one of the main factors that reduce the functionality and adaptive abilities of a person in older age groups.
