The presence of geriatric syndromes is a critical cardiovascular risk factor. One of the most common is a frailty. The syndrome is associated with increased mortality in patients with cardiovascular disease. There is a high prevalence of heart failure among elderly patients in the group of cardiovascular diseases. The review discusses the gender and age characteristics of patients with heart failure. The prognostic value of the frailty in patients with heart failure is considered.
